Emirati Citizens No Longer Require a Visa to Visit Canada

As of June 5, 2018, Emirati citizens no long require a visa to travel to Canada to visit family and/or friends, business purposes or to tour the country. Prior to June 5, 2018, all citizens of the United Arab Emirates had to apply for a visitor visa by submitting application forms and supporting documents and had to wait until a decision was rendered on their application prior to travelling to Canada. Now this document/information intensive process and waiting time period has been eliminated. Similar to most nationals who do not require a visa to travel to Canada, Emirati citizens will be required to apply for and receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport. An eTA will be required prior to any Emirati citizen boarding their flight to Canada and will ensure that the individual is admissible to Canada.
